When all available copies of a title are checked out, or if a customer online finds an item on the shelves they would like pulled for them, a hold can be placed on that particular item. Holds can be placed by phone, in person, or online -»Site

A valid library card (with less than $10.00 in fines on it) and PIN is needed to place holds. Holds may not be placed on reference material, magazines, videos, or DVDs.

When a hold becomes available, you will be contacted by a telephone call or postal mail. The Jessamine County Public Library will hold items for up to four days after they become available. After four days the items will be either returned to the collection or made available to the next person in line with a hold on the item. If you need longer than four days to pick up your hold, please call 859-885-3523 or e-mail us.

Holds may be picked up by the person whose name is on the account on which the hold was originally placed. In addition, the library offers an option to allow spouses or friends to pick up available holds. Please contact the Circulation Desk for more information on this option. Holds for customers under 18 may also be picked up by their parents or legal guardians.
