Family Book Club
Share the love of reading with the whole family. Families of all ages are invited to join the JCPL Family Book Club by reading aloud the selected book together in the comfort of your own home. The purpose of this book club is to promote and encourage the habit of sharing stories aloud and spending time together as a family. We encourage you to set aside some time each week for reading through and discussing the book.
Beginning January 7, families can sign–up to participate and read aloud The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall within the six week timeframe. The first 50 families to register will receive a free copy of the book to keep.
Discussion starters will be provided to help jumpstart conversations and participants will be able to blog with other families in the club about their thoughts on the book.
We encourage all families to try to finish reading the book by February 23. To wrap up our program, all of our participating families will be invited to attend a party at the library on that date.
To register for the Family Book Club stop by the children’s desk or call 859-885-3523 ext. 227. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Juliana Gaddis at ext. 239 or Kate Irwin at ext. 240.
To wrap up this month’s reading of “The Penderwicks,” members of the book club will be invited to design and create a family crest to celebrate the unique characteristics of their family.
Registration is required. Book Club participants can register to attend at the JCPL children’s desk.
