Families of all ages are invited to join the JCPL Family Book Club by reading aloud the selected book together in the comfort of your own home.
The purpose of this book club is to promote and encourage the habit of sharing stories aloud and spending time together as a family. We encourage you to set aside time each week for reading through and discussing the book. As a special gift for participating in our program, the first 50 families to register will receive a copy of The Borrowers to add to their home library collection.
Since this book club does not meet in person, we have set up a blog as a place where families can go to post their thoughts, opinions, and “talk” with other participants who are reading along. The blog can be accessed at: http://jcplfamilybookclub.wordpress.com/.
We encourage all families to try to finish reading the book by February 24. To wrap up our program all of our participating families will be invited to attend a party at the library on that date. Registration for this event will be required and you can RSVP by calling the JCPL children’s desk at 859-885-3523 ext. 227. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Rachel Staub at ext. 231 or Kate Irwin at ext. 240.
Members of the Family Book Club which began in January will enjoy a special wrap up party to celebrate finishing reading Mary Norton’s, The Borrowers. Families will use everyday objects to create their own miniature worlds like that of the Borrowers. All supplies will be provided.Registration is required and can be done by calling the children’s desk at 859-885-3523 ext. 227.
