Explore instrument families and the science of sound with this lively performance. Rachel engages participants by incorporating zany instruments like the turkey baster, straw panpipes, tin can guitar, washboard, recycled percussion instruments and audience participation.Children’s recording artist, Rachel Sumner has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe. She is a professional singer, storyteller, writer, and actor who has sung in bands and twenty-one piece orchestras, performed in children’s theater, and appeared in television and radio commercials. Her recordings have received numerous awards and can be heard on children’s radio and satellite programming around the world. Her music videos have appeared regularly on The Learning Channel. In addition to performing, Rachel presents keynotes and workshops for educators, librarians and parents. She is an experienced teaching artist who works with various arts organizations including the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s Education Department. She is also a Master Artist with the highly acclaimed Wolf Trap Institute.
