Jessamine County Black History Month Celebration

Come celebrate the African-American history and heritage in Jessamine County. The whole community is encouraged to be part of this fun, family gala.11:00 am – 12:00 pm  Refreshments provided by the Jessamine County Fiscal Court12:00 pm to 1:00 pm  Community resource tables and presentations by the Macedonia Baptist Church and Gospel Word Missionary Church1:00 pm to 1:45 pm Performance by The Imani Dance and Drum Company Under the
direction of Harlina Churn- Diallo, the Imani Dance & Drum Company is a high-energy, educational,
audience-friendly group. They will  share African drumming, singing,
dancing and cultural knowledge. Participants will have the chance to play
African instruments, dance and sing along with the performers2:00 pm to 2:45 pm  The Ron Spriggs Exhibit of the Tuskegee AirmenRon Spriggs is an oral historian, lecturer, speaker and curator of Tuskegee Airmen, whose intention is to illuminate these unsung “Gladiators of the Skies”. Mr. Spriggs believes that Tuskegee Airmen are not just black history, Tuskegee Airmen are American history.  He also posits that history untold – is history lost. This is why since 2002 Ron has worked tirelessly as a “Voice of the Tuskegee Airmen”, to disseminate their history and legacyIn partnership with the C.A.R.E. Group of Jessamine County.
